The way people talk about autism has changed a lot.
We used to call autism a lot of different things. Some people still use these words, like:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Autistic Disorder
- Asperger’s Syndrome
- Childhood Disintegrative Disorder
- Pervasive
Developmental Disability Not Otherwise Specialized (PDD-NOS) - Atypical Autism
Today, we mostly just call it autism.
